Kelly Law-YoneKelly Law-Yone Hometown: Dallas, Texas Age: 21

I’m currently a student at the University of Texas at Dallas, studying to be a game designer. In my spare time you can find me gaming it up with my Smash Melee gang (who introduced me to Guitar Hero) or rocking out on Guitar Hero II. When I’m not in front of a TV screen, you can find me at my keyboard composing music or rocking out on my electric guitar. Guitar Hero is the only reason I started learning how to play a real guitar, actually. I’m not your typical girl - forget the mall, hand me a controller any day. Although, it’s kind of hard when you’re the only girl in a group of male gamers… because they tend to be tougher on me, but it only makes me better in the long run. Many people assume I can’t really play the games I’m into because I’m a girl, but it’s those people holding back tears when I end up on top. When I want something, I go after it.

What is a tipper queen? While I am a die hard GHII fan, Super Smash Brothers Melee has always been something I’ve been crazy about. I earned the nickname “tipper queen” by being the best player to hit players with the tip of my sword as Marth, a character in the game. So when I beat you in Guitar Hero, consider yourself tippered.

Accomplishments

  • 1st place at UTD Intramural GH2 Tournament - June 2007
  • 1st place at Waterview Park Apartments GH2, Hard difficulty, winter of 2006
  • 3rd place overall in Midnight Gaming Championship Qualifier Tournaments for GH1, winter 2006
  • 2nd place co op at Frets on Ice Tournament of January 2007
  • GH2 5 starring Jordan (haha)
